You don’t want to miss it! It’s also the Scubadillos’ annual fundraiser. \n🎟️ Tickets & Admission\n\nLuau Ticket: $10 per person (plus a $0.30 credit card fee) until June 10th (after that $15 at the event). Both members and non-members require a ticket.\nHow to buy: Purchase online at Scubadillos GivingFuel or grab them in person at the June 4th monthly meeting.\nPark Entry Fee: Please note that Wheeler Branch Reservoir Park charges its own entry fee of $10 per person at the gate.\n\n📍 Where & When\n\nLocation: Wheeler Branch Reservoir Park\, Glen Rose\, TX\nVibe: A scenic lake park that is the absolute ideal venue for swimming\, diving\, dry-land games\, and water competitions!\nAttire: It’s a Luau! Bust out your favorite tropical shirts\, grass skirts\, and island attire.\n\n🤿 Diving Details\nWheeler Branch has plenty to explore\, including a dive platform\, a sunken bus\, a helicopter\, and tons of fish! \n\nTiming: Diving begins in the morning or as soon as you arrive. If you plan to dive\, please arrive early (around 11:00 AM).\nConditions: Expect surface temps in the low 70s. However\, it gets chilly past the various thermoclines! The lake reaches depths past 60 feet for true deep dives.\nGear Recommendations: A 5mm wetsuit is highly recommended. If you plan to go deep\, treat it like a night dive—it gets dark but the water gets beautifully clear! Be sure to bring proper hoods\, gloves\, and dive lights.\nAir/Tanks: There are no air fill stations at the park\, so be sure to bring all the tanks and weights you need for the day!\n\n🍔 Food\, Refreshments & Park Amenities\n\nThe Main Course: Provided by the Scubadillos!\nPotluck: Please bring a favorite side dish or dessert to share with the group. It makes for an easy day trip from Dallas! \nDriving Directions:\nFrom the Dallas area\, take I-35 past the Dallas Zoo and take the right-hand split on Hwy. 67 to Duncanville\, Cedar Hill\, Midlothian\, Alvarado\, and Cleburne. In Glen Rose\, take Bo Gibbs Blvd. (CR 301) near the Expo Center/La Quinta intersection and go a half-mile west to see the park entrance\, where you will veer left at the “Y” intersection onto CR 326. This is the perfect opportunity to jump in the water\, check your gear\, and ensure everything is working flawlessly before the trip. It’s a great chance to dial in your baseline weighting—just remember to adjust for the saltwater switch once we hit Mexico! \n📍 Logistics & Gear\n\n\nDock Location: TBD. Dive-buddy contestants will compete to have the best five-card poker hand from our underwater “playing table.” Of course\, you can dive\, but it’s not required to join in on the food and fun! \n\nWhen: Saturday\, Sept. 12 | 11:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m.\nWhere: Wheeler Branch Reservoir Park (Glen Rose\, TX)\n\n\nEvent Details\nCost & Park Info\nThe park entrance fee is $10 per person. Please note that overnight camping is not allowed. Pets are permitted but must be on a short leash (6 ft. or less)\, and you are responsible for picking up after them. Clean bathrooms are available on site. \nFood & RSVP\nWe will fire up the grill around noon. The club will supply the main course (burgers) and the “fixins’.” Please bring a side dish to share. It might be chilly\, so a 3-5 mil suit is recommended. Arrive early (around 11:00 a.m.) if you intend to dive outside of the poker run. Expect 80 degrees on the surface\, but it gets much colder past the thermoclines. For deep dives (past 60 feet)\, bring proper hoods\, gloves\, and lights. It is essentially a night dive at that depth\, though the water gets beautifully clear! \n\nGetting There\nWheeler Branch Reservoir is an easy day-trip from Dallas (about 77 miles from DFW Airport).
