DESCRIPTION:Details\n\n\nLearn about advances in coral disease studies from scientists in our own backyard: UTA\n————————————————————————-\nPlease join us for our Scubadillo meeting\, Thursday\, June 6\, at On the Border in Addison. \nDr. Laura Mydlarz\, associate dean in the College of Science at the University of Texas at Arlington\, and her graduate students will share their studies in coral immunity\, diseases and symbiosis. \nCorals and other invertebrates must be able to defend themselves against infection\, predation\, competition and abiotic stressors to maintain homeostasis. Dr. Mydlarz and her team are interested in immunorecognition\, signaling pathways\, effector responses as well as putting immunity in the context of organismal studies\, such as life-history tradeoffs and effects of the environment on immunity. \nCheck out her lab’s website. \nMeeting details\nOur meeting begins at 7 p.m. If your schedule permits\, please come for the social/dinner hour around 6 p.m. \nBring some cash for the raffle\, which offers fun\, mostly useful items!\nAnd don’t forget our Luau on June 8 at Wheeler Branch Reservoir. \nFins up!
