There’s plenty to do\, including swimming and hiking. Don’t delay in getting your ticket(s). This helps us be prepared for enough food and picnic supplies. \nPark fee\nPark entrance fee is $10 per person. Cash only. (This is separate from the Luau ticket.) Overnight camping is not allowed. Pets are allowed in the park\, but must be on a short leash (6 ft. or less) and you have to pick up any deposits. Expect low 70s on the surface at this time of year and colder past the various thermoclines as the lake can get past 60 feet for true deep dives. Bring proper hoods\, gloves and lights if you go this deep as it is a night dive at this depth – but the water gets clearer! Diving begins in the morning or when you arrive.\nRaffle\nBring plenty of cash for the raffle to win great prizes.Silent auction\nGet some dive gear at a super great price! Buy a gift basket full of fun items. Spend some money to help support the club. \n\nChow down!\nThe Luau Feast begins at 1 p.m.-ish. We’ll have pulled pork. Bring a side dish to share. To avoid eight tubs of potato salad\, please let us know what you’re bringing. Use this food sign-up sheet here. This also helps us know how many folks are coming so we can have enough meat.Visible alcoholic beverages are not allowed at the park (like most park rules)\, so remember to bring appropriate beverage containers for your favorite drink. \nLet the games begin!\nWe’ll start the games around 3:30. Horseshoes\, batting\, water balloon toss and water cup toss\, along with water cannons and water bucket competitions for two-person teams. Prizes will be awarded! Bring your Frisbees\, if you like. This is a family-friendly event. Kids are welcome to participate. \n\nIt’s a Luau. Feel free to dress up in your favorite tropical attire!\nGetting there\nGlen Rose is about 77 miles from DFW Airport\, off Hwy 67 south of the Fort Worth area and slightly southwest of Waxahachie. You could do an easy day trip from Dallas. If you make a weekend of it\, you could visit the nearby Dinosaur Valley State Park or explore the 1\,700-acre Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.\n\nFrom the Dallas area\, take I-35 past the Dallas Zoo and take the right-hand split on Hwy. 67 to Duncanville\, Cedar Hill\, Midlothian\, Alvarado and Cleburne. In Glen Rose\, take Bo Gibbs Blvd. (CR 301) near the Expo Center/La Quinta intersection and go a half-mile west to see the park entrance where you will veer left at the “Y” intersection onto CR 326. Look for the Scubadillo signs and banners at the pavilion. \nAloha!

SUMMARY:Canceled: Local lake dive @ Lake Travis
DESCRIPTION:Scubadillos\, outing planned for July 26th is a Lake Travis boat dive. \nIt is Travis Time!!! Lake Travis that is.\, July 26-27. Put it on your calendar and join us! Lake Travis is located just to the northwest of Austin. We will go diving off the Giant Stride on: \n\nSaturday afternoon (1-5pm)\n\nNote that they also have slots for Saturday morning 8-12.30 and Sunday morning 8-12.30 if you want to do more diving. \nWhat is the Giant Stride\, you ask? The Giant Stride is a bona fide dive boat!!! On Lake Travis!!! Yes! So\, the Giant Stride is a Coast Guard certified 30 foot pontoon dive boat operating on Lake Travis. The boat operator is Lake Travis Scuba!! Check them out on the web (https://www.laketravisscuba.com/) \nCost and reservations: You will need to make your own reservations online at https://www.laketravisscuba.com/ and the cost is $65 pp. The Giant Stride will haul us out into the middle of Lake Travis. Depending on the temperament of the boat captain\, the Giant Stride will either drop us into the lake in the middle of nowhere; or if we ask politely\, Robert\, the boat captain\, has his favorite dive sites. Dive sites such as: Starnes Island\, Fiesta Haus Wall\, Oasis Wall\, The Shaker Plant\, West Point Cypress Creek Wall\, Wreck Alley. What is that? You say you have never heard of any of these dive sites? Well\, you have never been aboard the Giant Stride. Please come join us! It will be a blast! I promise. Note: make your reservations now at LakeTravisScuba.com. The boat is open to everyone and will fill up. \nEquipment: You must have all your equipment including weights and tanks and something to drink. The diving fee to board the Giant Stride is $65. For $65\, we all get to take a 4 hour\, 2 tank\, dive excursion to wondrous dive sites across Lake Travis!! These dive sites are only accessible by boat so the dive fee is well worth it!!! Please come join us! \nNote: They also offer two tank rental for $25 where they will have the tanks available on the boat. Lake level is low and it’s a pain to haul your own tanks down from the parking lot to the dock so I would highly recommend renting tanks. \nDinner: After the conclusion of our Giant Stride morning and afternoon dive we can all go eat dinner. I have heard the Austin area has some decent restaurants. Location TBD and suggestions are appreciated. \nWhere to stay: Hotels range from $100 to $200 per night. You can also check out the B&B and AirBnb. Or go primitive and camp at https://windypointpark.com/camp-picnic/ and possibly dive there.

SUMMARY:Wine and Cheese / Arctic dive @ Marietta’s Landing\, OK
DESCRIPTION:It is time for wine\, cheese\, and cold-water diving. The Diving Rebels and the Scubadillo\nDive club will be at the Marietta Landing campground at Lake Murray State Park\n(Oklahoma) on Saturday\, February 28 th for the traditional Wine & Cheese Party / Arctic\nDive. We would like to invite any interested divers and non-divers to join us. Lake\nMurray State Park is located about twenty-four miles north of the Texas border just off I-\n35 and 7 miles northeast of Marietta\, OK. This is an easy day trip. Only 1:30 – 2:00\nhours from DFW. A map of Lake Murray State Park with Marietta Landing campground\nnoted is included below. \nDIVING\nAlthough there is no official time for diving scheduled\, there is an unofficial dive time at\n11: 00 AM at the campground boat ramp area. Should you not be able to make that\ntime\, the lake is continually open for your diving pleasure on an ad hoc basis\, so you\ncan make your own arrangement\, if desired. It should be understood that one needs to\nbe prepared for cold water diving\, so bring the appropriate gear (thick wet suits or dry\nsuits). \nWINE AND CHEESE CONTEST\nWe will have our famous and traditional wine and cheese contest where we utilize a\npanel of just slightly less than sommelier-quality judges (if you don’t have an entry\, you\ncan be a judge) who will rate and award prizes for best red wine\, best white wine\, worst\nwine\, and best cheese. The judging will begin about 3:30 PM. So\, scour your wine cellar\nor favorite liquor store to bring your best/worst red and white wines that will be judged\nby an erudite panel of vintner wannabes who will closely taste and scrutinize the entries\nfor bouquet\, flavor\, clarity\, and all such hoity-toity wine things.
We will award “winner”\ngift certificates for first prize for the best red and white wines. Also award a “loser” gift\ncertificate for the worst wine. After the wine contest\, we will choose the best cheese\,\nand the winner will also win a gift certificate (no entries for worst cheese\, please!!).
