(This is separate from the Dillos fee\, noted above.) Overnight camping is not allowed. Pets are allowed in the park\, but must be on a short leash (6 ft. or less) and you have to pick up any deposits. You’ll find nice\, clean bathrooms on site. \nFood\nWe will fire up the grill around noon. The club will supply the main course (burgers) and the “fixins’.” Please bring a side dish to share. \n**RSVP**\nSign up here so we’ll know how many burgers we’ll need AND what side dish you’ll have to share. \nWhat to bring \n\nFolding chairs\nSunshades\, sunblock\, hats\, etc.\nBeverage of choice (be discreet if you have “adult bevs”)\nSide dish to share\nSwimsuits and dive gear\, towels (optional)\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\n\nDiving\nThe lake has a dive platform\, a sunken bus\, two helicopters\, and lots of fish! Might be chilly; 3-5 mil suit recommended. Be sure to arrive early (approx 11 a.m.) if you intend to dive. Expect 80 degrees on the surface at this time of year and colder past the various thermoclines as the lake can get past 60 feet for true deep dives. Bring proper hoods\, gloves and lights if you go this deep as it is a night dive at this depth – but the water gets clearer!\nLet the game begin!\nAfter lunch\, the “playing field” will be laid out at about 20 feet with two decks of special plastic-coated cards (one red\, one blue) on lines with clips attaching the cards. Each buddy team will be allowed to collect a maximum of five cards at one time. You will have 45 minutes to “improve” your hand as you take and replace cards to create the winning standard poker hands (flushes\, straights\, four-of-a-kind\, full houses\, etc.). Great prizes will be given out to the top poker hands presented at the end of the time period. You do not have to have a buddy to come. We will buddy you up if you do not have one.\nGetting there\nGlen Rose is about 77 miles from DFW Airport\, off Hwy 67 south of the Fort Worth area and slightly southwest of Waxahachie. You could do an easy day-trip from Dallas. If you make a weekend of it\, you could visit the nearby Dinosaur Valley State Park or explore the 1\,700-acre Fossil Rim Wildlife Center.\n\nFrom the Dallas area\, take I-35 past the Dallas Zoo and take the right-hand split on Hwy. 67 to Duncanville\, Cedar Hill\, Midlothian\, Alvarado and Cleburne. In Glen Rose\, take Bo Gibbs Blvd. (CR 301) near the Expo Center/La Quinta intersection and go a half-mile west to see the park entrance where you will veer left at the “Y” intersection onto CR 326. Look for the Scubadillo signs and banners at the pavilion. \nQuestions?\nPost your questions on the Scubadillo Dive Club Group Facebook page. Request to be a member if you’re not already on the group page. We’ll get you answers.

SUMMARY:Wine and Cheese / Arctic dive @ Marietta’s Landing\, OK
DESCRIPTION:It is time for wine\, cheese\, and cold-water diving. The Diving Rebels and the Scubadillo\nDive club will be at the Marietta Landing campground at Lake Murray State Park\n(Oklahoma) on Saturday\, February 28 th for the traditional Wine & Cheese Party / Arctic\nDive. We would like to invite any interested divers and non-divers to join us. Lake\nMurray State Park is located about twenty-four miles north of the Texas border just off I-\n35 and 7 miles northeast of Marietta\, OK. This is an easy day trip. Only 1:30 – 2:00\nhours from DFW. A map of Lake Murray State Park with Marietta Landing campground\nnoted is included below. \nDIVING\nAlthough there is no official time for diving scheduled\, there is an unofficial dive time at\n11: 00 AM at the campground boat ramp area. Should you not be able to make that\ntime\, the lake is continually open for your diving pleasure on an ad hoc basis\, so you\ncan make your own arrangement\, if desired. It should be understood that one needs to\nbe prepared for cold water diving\, so bring the appropriate gear (thick wet suits or dry\nsuits). \nWINE AND CHEESE CONTEST\nWe will have our famous and traditional wine and cheese contest where we utilize a\npanel of just slightly less than sommelier-quality judges (if you don’t have an entry\, you\ncan be a judge) who will rate and award prizes for best red wine\, best white wine\, worst\nwine\, and best cheese. The judging will begin about 3:30 PM. So\, scour your wine cellar\nor favorite liquor store to bring your best/worst red and white wines that will be judged\nby an erudite panel of vintner wannabes who will closely taste and scrutinize the entries\nfor bouquet\, flavor\, clarity\, and all such hoity-toity wine things. We will award “winner”\ngift certificates for first prize for the best red and white wines. Also award a “loser” gift\ncertificate for the worst wine. After the wine contest\, we will choose the best cheese\,\nand the winner will also win a gift certificate (no entries for worst cheese\, please!!). We\nneed judges for both contests\, so if you are not a contest participant or related to a\ncontest participant and would like to judge\, please let me know.  Please bring your\nbottles uncorked to the judging site and place them in the provided labeled paper bags\nto maintain the “secrecy” of the process. After the conclusion of the contest\, please feel\nfree to incorporate the left-over wine and cheese into the forthcoming meal. \nFOOD\nThe Diving Rebels plan to serve a meal at about 4:30 pm\, consisting of a main dish of\nbrisket\, turkey\, and sausage. We are asking that you bring a favorite side item of either\na vegetable dish or dessert and your own drinks. We will also provide water and tea. To\nassist in meal planning and preparation\, we’re asking attendees to purchase tickets.\nThrough February 23 rd \, each ticket costs $10. After that date and at the event\, each\nticket costs $15. If you would like to attend and have not yet obtained your ticket\, you\ncan contact me\, and I will reserve and mark a $10 ticket for you on assurance of surety\nof your first born that you will attend by contacting Steve at (214) 641-6013.  I will hold\nyour ticket if you can give me firm commitment for attendance. \nLet us know what you plan to bring on this link \nRAFFLE\nAfter the meal\, we will have our traditional raffle featuring all kinds of wonderful\nitems. We ask if you have any good-as-new dive related items that could be used by\nanyone\, that you consider donating these for this activity and allow someone else to\nexperience the joy in the use of these items that you formerly experienced.  For those of\nyou who will be bidding\, please bring cash. \nBONFIRE ish\nIf you have some good quality firewood that is not infested with any insect pests or\ncontaminated with any chemicals\, please feel free to bring this along and we will see\nabout creating a moderate campfire to create warmth and ambiance.  Be sure to bring a\ncomfortable chair for sitting around the fire and visiting at the end of the day.\nNote: There may be a fire ban in place so check the site below to see if it is lifted before you bring wood\nhttps://ag.ok.gov/wp-content/uploads/2023/04/Most-Recent-Fire-Situation-Report.pdf \nLODGING\nRV and tent camping is available at Marietta Landing campground. The campground is\ndesigned primarily for RV camping with an expansion of the paved areas and a\nreduction of open and uncovered areas. A map of the campground is below.  The RV\nrates for each campsite range from about $31 – $43 per night. Each site can also\naccommodate up to two tents. The first tent reservation will be $31 and the second tent\nat the same site is $16. Each of these reservation rates also includes a day pass for that\nvehicle at no extra charge. If you have made a reservation to spend the night in a tent\,\nRV\, cabin\, or lodge\, you will be provided with a day ticket for entrance to the park. If you\nare just there for the day\, you will need to go on the park website (provided\nbelow)\, to purchase a $10 car pass or you can stop at the park headquarters and\npurchase a pass for $10/vehicle.  So\, you might carpool\, if not spending the night. \nCAMPSITES\nThe Diving Rebels have reserved three campsites that will be utilized exclusively for the\nouting operations area – food\, contest\, etc. Many sites are still available for camping\nBUT none are reserved for us\, so if you want to camp\, we urge you to reserve your spot\nASAP.
